Dive the Great Barrier Reef
Mission Beach is the closest access point to the Great Barrier Reef – which is located 40km off-shore. Take one of the many boat tours available and spend the days snorkelling or diving the pristine water and vibrant sea-life in one of the quieter places on the Barrier Reef. You can even book a tour through reception.
The Family Group of Islands
The Family Group of Islands, including Dunk, Coombe and Wheeler Islands, are located only a few kilometres off the coast from Mission Beach, and can be reached by water taxi or charter boats. Spend the day hiking and exploring these stunning group of islands, complete with pristine beaches and rainforests.
The large flightless cassowary, one of Australia’s endangered birds, have made a home near Mission beach. Here you will find one of the highest concentration of them in Australia. You may spot them swimming across rivers, and strolling through gardens around Mission Beach.

Whales can sometimes be spotted from the beachfront of BIG4 Beachcomber Coconut Holiday Park, and there are many tour options to take you out onto the water to get up close to these beautiful creatures. Whale Season in Mission Beach is from July to August.
Josephine Falls – Slide down the natural rock slide
Imagine sliding down your very own natural rockslide beneath a waterfall! Well at Josephine Falls you can do exactly that. Often described as “nature’s playground” it has beautiful cascades and a wonderful rock pool to swim in. There is a viewing platform from the top pool which is an easy 600m walk from top to bottom, making it suitable for all levels of fitness. It is also wheelchair accessible. The falls are located just over an hour from Beachcomber Coconut Beach Holiday Park, in the foothills of Bartle Frere, Queensland’s highest mountain range. Drive to Innisfail, then onto the Wooroonooran National Park.
Paronella Park – the Romance Lives On
Paronella Park was built as a gift from José Paronella to his wife Margarita. It took José six years to build the castle by hand and the pair lived in a small stone cottage within the gardens. Since opening its doors in 1935, this five-hectare mystical wonderland, complete with a Spanish-style castle, waterfall and over 7000 tropical trees and palms, has earned its place as one of North Queensland’s premier tourist attractions. Paranella Park is a 45-minute drive from BIG4 Beachcomber Coconut Holiday Park.

If white water rafting is more your style then Wildside Adventures offer some great tour experiences on the mighty Tully River, also with Park Pick Up.

Kennedy Walking Track
This popular track takes you on a picture-perfect journey from South Mission Beach to Kennedy Bay. Take in views of the beautiful coastline,forest and maybe even spot a rainforest animal or two!
Ulysses Link Walking Track
Named after the beautiful blue Ulysses butterflies, this trail begins at the Village Green and winds its way along the stunning foreshore. This walk is perfect for the kids and will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
Lacey’s Creek Walk
Lacey’s begins at the Cassowary Information Shelter and passes through the beautiful rainforest or Djiiru National Park. Crossing over the creek numerous times, see if you can spot the resident turtles swimming in the water. Why not take a picnic lunch with you and enjoy a BBQ in the picnic area. Toilet facilities available at the start of the walk.
Licuala Rainforest Circuit Walks
There are several tracks that will take you through the rare palm forests of Mission Beach, but the circuit track is a great family-friendly track, taking approximately 30 minutes. Be sure to look up to take in the size and scale of the Licuala Fan Palms.
Charley’s Chocolate Tour
Take a tour of this local chocolate producer, find out where chocolate comes from, how it is made and most importantly taste the end product! Yum!
Fruit Forest Farm
Take your tastebuds on a wild adventure at Fruit Forest Farm, where you can taste and learn about the local exotic tropical fruits including the abiu, amazon custard apple, yellow dragon fruit and more.
Murdering Point Winery
Take home a souvenir bottle of local tropical fruit wine from Murdering Point Winery, set amongst fertile cane fields and lush tropical rainforest. Conveniently located just a 30 min drive down the road from BIG4 Beachcomber Coconut Holiday Park.
